Port Monitor
Port monitor is a Windows print spooler component that is installed on the Windows server or workstation. It provides the following functionality:
  • Print job redirection to the selected print queue or to the attached USB printer;
  • Short ID prompt and validation;
  • Accounting of the print jobs sent to locally attached printers.

For the short ID validation and job accounting the VDMS server is required. The server must be correctly configured and have a separate terminal created corresponding to the PC where the port monitor is installed.

It is possible to monitor attached USB printers in two ways:
  1. By creating a separate USB printer queue and redirecting jobs to it
  2. By instructing the port monitor to redirect print jobs to generic USB printer attached without the need to create a USB print queue.
